Hello & welcome to the Beans!

The Bean Hive is an independent mini department store based in a bright pink shop on the High Street in Kettering, Northamptonshire.  A visit is always fun and our wonderful staff offer a friendly service combined with good old fashioned excellent customer service.

Founded in 2018 by a group of friends and traders. The Bean Hive specialises in quirky items for the home, gifts for any occasion and the biggest selection of cards in the area. The shop is home to many local traders including the locally famous Randalls American sweet shop and our unique Upstairs at Sweary Marys.

Check out our amazing choice of cards!

Our quirky products are sourced from reputable European and national brands together with many lesser well known local or independent designers. We choose products that are innovative, we like ourselves, are well made and offer good value.

We are so proud of what we have achieved in our first two years of trading. With a lot of blood sweat and tears we turned a mostly derelict shop into a colourful vibrant shop and we have already become the go to store for gifts locally.  We have won awards as the best independent retailer for both Northampton Life and Muddy Stilletto and we are delighted to be finalists in the upcoming The Great Awards which are the Oscars for the gift retail industry.

Queen Bean

Founder and owner of The Bean Hive Ltd

Originally from a property background I accidentally started my retail career by selling antiques and vintage paraphernalia following a massive inheritance of junk from my mother.  I am unashamedly a shopaholic and my favourite activity is sourcing new stock for the shop.  As well as running the business you will often find me front of house as I love chatting to our customers.  I am passionate about the High Street and independent shops and try to support as many local businesses as possible. I am so proud of our Bean Hive family.

Paula

Founder of the Bean Hive and known as Bossy Bean

After working in advertising and marketing for over 35 years, I now help to manage The Bean Hive and at times Bean. Boon my shop was born two years ago and has now become a full time job as The Bean Hive is so busy. I run the office but can also be found on the shop floor as I enjoy meeting our lovely customers.

Jarrod

Founder of The Bean Hive & Social Bean (aka Sweetie King)

I have always been an entrepreneur & have been running my American Candy store, Randalls for over five years now. Proudly running an online store & two physical stores, in Market Harborough & Kettering (within The Bean Hive). Studying Photography at College helped me shape & run the Social Media platforms for The Bean Hive, which has been a godsend as these oldies are useless with their phones! You will also find me in the shop at least one day a week, mainly making everyone laugh & eating. I am very passionate about independent retail & supporting local, this is something that makes me proud to be such a big part of The Bean Hive community.

Hello, We are the Falmouth Team Bean! I’m Em, I moved to Falmouth 6+ years ago for my history undergrad degree at The University of Exeter and ended up staying for my postgrad have pretty much been here ever since.

Falmouth is a really cool seaside town with a thriving arts scene. We’re so happy to be a part of this colourful community! I have always been beige-phobic, so I’m on a quest to make the world more colourful! We’re proud to be the most colourful shop in town. The shop is, quite literally, crammed full with quirky colourful things that are not easily available elsewhere.

You can find our other business, Mrs Norris, in the back rooms of our shop, supplying you with sustainable vintage clothing and cool art! I’m also an artist, I make lots of playful colourful things that are available in the shop. My most popular pieces are my vibrant pom pom mirrors!
